Do you need a second photographer?
Usually not. A second photographer earns their place exactly when two things happen in two places at once — otherwise they mainly double the number of images, not their value.
When they make the difference
- Preparations in two separate places at the same time.
- Very large celebrations — beyond roughly two hundred guests one person cannot see everything.
- Turkish and Kurdish weddings with an entrance and takı: one stays with the couple, one with the guests.
- Separated areas, where only a woman should photograph in one of them.
When they add nothing
Sixty guests, one venue, a straightforward run of the day. Then two people with cameras stand in the same rooms and deliver the same moments from two angles. It sounds like more and is mainly more selecting.
The question that decides it
Is there a point in your day when two things happen at once that you will want to see later? If yes, you need two people. If no, put the money into more hours instead — the hour before midnight almost always returns more than a second camera at four in the afternoon.
